2013 News

The next BSI Weekend is scheduled for January 9-13, 2013, with the BSI Dinner set for Friday January 11, 2013.

Please note the details below are for the 2012 Weekend, but are retained here to give you a sense of what happens during this weekend.

The next BSI event is the BSI-UCLA "Sherlock Holmes: Behind the Canonical Screen" set for Labor Day weekend Aug. 31 - Sep. 3, 2012. It's open to the public, but space is limited, so register now.

ASH Wednesday
The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes formally kick off the weekend with a dinner, for those who are already in the city.

6:00 p.m. Dinner at O'Casey's (22 East 41st Street) (map)

Cost: Attendees pay their own checks, it's a good idea to e-mail Susan Rice (125 Washington Place #2-E, New York, NY 10014) or  Evelyn A. Herzog (301 Warren Avenue #203, Baltimore, MD 21230) to let them know if you're coming to the event.

Cost: The walk is free; lunch is pay-your-own

The BSI Distinguished Speaker Lecture
This year's Distinguished Speaker is Dr. Lisa Sanders of Yale University, technical advisor to the television series "House."

6:15 p.m. (Sold Out) BSI Distinguished Speaker Lecture on the 2nd floor of the Midtown Executive Club at 40 West 45th Street (map)

Cost: $11.00 per ticket; advance purchase only (no sales at the door).

Open House - Mysterious Bookshop

11:00 a.m. Otto Penzler opens the Mysterious Bookshop (map) to Sherlockians; open until 5:00 p.m.

Cost: Free


The William Gillette Memorial Luncheon

12:00 noon Lunch and entertainment at Moran's Chelsea Seafood Restaurant (map)

Cost: $45.00 for salmon or chicken; $52.00 for prime rib

The Baker Street Irregulars Dinner

6:00 p.m. The BSI dinner at the Yale Club - invitation only


The Gaslight Gala

6:30 p.m. The Gaslight Gala (dinner and entertainment) at the Manhattan Club (map) - open to all Sherlockians and their friends

Cost: $78.00 (checks payable to Will Walsh) should be sent to Carol Fish, Box 4, Circleville, NY 10919 (845-361-4320)

Reserve early to insure your place!  Please include your e-mail address and primary Sherlockian society affiliation


Those who wish to have seasonal souvenirs in the dinner packets can send 170 copies (for the BSI) to Al Gregory (118 South Prospect Street, Verona, NJ 07044), 110 copies (for the Gala) to Carol Fish (Box 4, Circleville, NY 10919), and 20 copies (for The Women) to Mary Ann Bradley, 7938 Mill Stream Circle, Indianapolis, IN 46278); your material should arrive by Dec. 15.

The Baker Street Irregulars Annual Reception
Open to all Sherlockians and their friends.  Hors d'oeuvres and open bar.  Includes an auction of rare Sherlockiana for the Dr. John H. Watson Fund.

1:00 p.m. Doors open at the New York City Bar Association (map)

Cost: $79.00 in advance; $89.00 after Nov. 26 or at the door

Open to all Sherlockians and their friends, advance reservations required.

6:00 p.m. Dinner at Pete's Tavern (map)

Cost: $42.00 for dinner, two alcoholic drink, tax, and tip
