Sherlock Holmes: Behind The Canonical Screen
Los Angeles, California August 31 - September 3, 2012
Please reserve the dates of August 31 through September 3, 2012 (Labor Day weekend) for the next Baker Street Irregulars Conference. After Vermissa Valley in 2004 and Salt Lake City in 2008, the BSI continues its westward migration; this time to The City of the Angels.
The Baker Street Irregulars are partnering with the UCLA School of Theatre, Film and Television to present a very special conclave entitled "Sherlock Holmes: Behind the Canonical Screen." While the symposium will feature in-depth analyses of the history of Sherlock Holmes on both the large and small screens, unlike other film festivals, technical aspects such as screen writing, casting, costuming, lighting, and sound will also be considered. Special sessions featuring actors, producers and directors are being planned as well. Evening events include an opening reception, an outdoor buffet followed by the screening of several rare, recently restored films, and a gala Academy Award-themed closing banquet.
The Conference will take place on UCLA's beautiful Westwood campus. For lodgings, the BSI has reserved the UCLA Guest House in its entirety. The James Bridges Theatre, the site of the daily sessions, is a five minute walk from the Guest House.
Registration is now open. Space is limited, so register now.
